ISABELA CITY, BASILAN | August 8, 2026 — Basilan National High School (BNHS) emerged as the champion of the Battle of the Brains 3.0 – Junior High School Division, held on August 8 at the Isabela City Youth Development Center as part of the Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 celebration.
The academic competition brought together five teams from different secondary schools in Isabela City, challenging students to demonstrate their knowledge, critical-thinking abilities, teamwork, and understanding of key youth and development frameworks, including the Isabela City Youth Code, the Ten Centers of Youth Participation, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

Representing Basilan National High School, the winning BNHS team was composed of Rayhan D. Ajal, Jhia Fyneth B. Luna, and Hana Qurseeya I. Awal, with Georgie P. Santillan as adviser.
The competition also featured teams from Baluno National High School, Basilan National High School, Başkan Floating Integrated School, Malamawi National High School, and Tandung Ahas National High School—each bringing their own strengths and knowledge to the competition.

The Battle of the Brains 3.0 highlights the importance of creating spaces where young people can develop their knowledge, critical-thinking skills, teamwork, and awareness of issues affecting their communities.



Through activities such as this, the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) and the City Government of Isabela continue to provide opportunities for young Isabeleños to learn, participate, and demonstrate their potential as informed and engaged members of the community.
