The City Government of Isabela, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, through the Gender and Development (GAD) Unit headed by GAD Focal Mendry-Ann Lim, reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young women by extending its continued support to the Basilan Girl Scout Council.
During a meeting on July 30, the Council expressed its sincere appreciation to Mayor Turabin-Hataman for the City Government’s unwavering support in advancing programs and opportunities that promote leadership, character development, and empowerment among girls in Basilan.

Among the matters discussed were the three approved Girl Scout activities scheduled for September 2026, updates on the Girl Scout Building, the identification of a possible venue for upcoming activities, and the proposal to introduce a localized badge that will recognize outstanding Girl Scouts for their exemplary leadership and service.
A highlight of the meeting was the ceremonial turnover of P350,000.00 in financial assistance, funded under the Gender and Development (GAD) Program, from the City Government to support the Basilan Girl Scout Council’s 2026 programs and activities, further promoting leadership, character development, and empowerment among young girls.
The continued partnership between the City Government and the Basilan Girl Scout Council reflects their shared commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for girls to grow into confident, responsible, and empowered leaders who can make positive contributions to their communities.
