With a huge comeback in the final minutes, Zamboanga City took down the Zamboanga del Norte-Dipolog-Dapitan Athletic Association (ZANDIDAA) to claim the championship title in the ZPRAA Meet 2026 Secondary Girls Basketball.
The intense final game was held at the Isabela City Civic and Cultural Center (Gym) in Binuangan, April 10. Fans filled the bleachers to watch a neck-and-neck battle where both teams fought for every possession.
Zamboanga City’s steady shooting in the end gave them the advantage, while ZANDIDAA showed great energy in the early quarters. Both teams traded baskets and played tough defense, keeping the score very close as they headed into the second half.
ZANDIDAA continued to push hard in the third quarter, holding a slight lead and testing Zamboanga City’s patience. It looked like the game would go down to the wire as neither side wanted to back down.
However, Zamboanga City found their second wind in the fourth quarter. They stepped up their defense and started hitting crucial shots that finally broke the tie. By outscoring ZANDIDAA 21-12 in the final period, they managed to pull away and secure the win.
When the final buzzer sounded, the scoreboard showed 67-61, officially crowning Zamboanga City as the 2026 ZPRAA Secondary Girls Basketball Champions.
This big win sends Zamboanga City straight to the national stage. As the new regional champions, they have earned the right to represent the region in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa, where they will face the best young athletes from across the Philippines. (Photos by KJ Evardo, IsaTV)
