CDRRMO AND CSOs JOIN EIGHTH SESSION OF SAKAYAN-KAALAMAN 4.0

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) joined the eighth session of the Sakayan-Kaalaman Reading Program 4.0 on September 8 at Westside Elementary School.

An initiative of the City Government of Isabela under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, Sakayan-Kaalaman 4.0 is implemented through the City Information Office (CIO), headed by Mendry-Ann Lim.

The session was hosted by Westside Elementary School, led by Principal Nurrahma Abubakar, and facilitated by Mobile Library Focal Person Jham-Jham Kalbi, in partnership with the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), headed by Levinia Jarejolne.

Representing CDRRMO Officer Uso Dan Salasim was Irene Francisco, who introduced the learners to basic disaster preparedness, safety measures, and emergency response. Through an interactive question-and-answer activity, the children were encouraged to participate and share what they already knew about staying safe during emergencies.

The CDRRMO also helped strengthen the learners’ preparedness by distributing Go Bags to selected participants and donating first-aid kits to the school.

The learning continued with the program’s reading activities, facilitated by dedicated Youth Space Mentoring Program (YSMP) mentors. The activities gave the learners an engaging and supportive space to practice and improve their reading skills.

Meanwhile, the CSOs, represented by Sheila Pagarigan, added a warm touch to the session by providing champorado for the children’s merienda, making the learning experience even more enjoyable.

Through the combined efforts of the city government, partner offices, CSOs, mentors, and the school community, Sakayan-Kaalaman 4.0 continues to bring meaningful learning experiences to children—helping them strengthen their reading skills while gaining knowledge and confidence to become safer, more prepared, and more resilient members of the community.
