YOUTH IMPACT TEAM VISITS ISABELA CITY, LEARNS OF LOCAL EDUC. INITIATIVES

Youth Impact representatives — Researcher Nimrod Trinos, Policy Specialist Elaine Trinos, and Program Associate Phil de Leon were warmly welcomed by the City Government of Isabela through the City Information Office led by CIO Mendry-Ann Lim on October 21.
After meeting with DepEd SDO-Isabela City to monitor and assess local education initiatives, the team learned about the HAPIsabela Mobile Library, which prompted their visit to the City Government to know more about the program and its implementation.
They were joined by representatives from the Schools Division Office of Isabela City, led by Public Schools District Supervisor Fadher Ismael, with Education Program Supervisors Josiah Tuballia and Violeta Sta. Elena.
Discussions focused on the HAPIsabela Mobile Library and the Sakayan-Kaalaman Reading Project — flagship programs conceptualized under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, anchored on her belief that “ang pagbabasa ay hindi lang problema ng DepEd, kundi ng buong komunidad.” These initiatives continue to advance literacy, inclusivity, and lifelong learning among children, especially in far-flung communities.
The team also reviewed milestones and outcomes since the programs’ launch in 2022, highlighting their contribution to improving access to learning resources and strengthening community-based education.
After the discussion, the Youth Impact team toured the HAPIsabela Mobile Library, witnessing firsthand how the city brings books and learning opportunities closer to every child.
Youth Impact is a youth-led organization that advances evidence-based solutions to improve learning outcomes and community development. Their visit underscores recognition of Isabela City’s education programs as models of local innovation. (Words by E. Banding-Hadjala, CIO/Photos by A. Puti, IsaTV)
