VM NIMS AJIBON LEADS INSPIRING STORYTELLING AT SAKAYAN-KAALAMAN SESSION 18

The 18th session of the Sakayan-Kaalaman Reading Program 3.0 was held on November 18, at Kaumpurnah Elementary School, bringing together excited learners from Grades 2 to 6.
In partnership with the City Information Office (CIO) and the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), Vice Mayor Ar-Jhemar Nims Ajibon also joined the session for a lively storytelling activity. He read “Nasaan ang Inah Ko?”, a story about perseverance, and reminded the youth about the importance of loving and honoring their mothers.
A project of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, this program aims to boost the reading skills of Isabeleño children through biweekly sessions designed to tackle literacy challenges in the community. Every Tuesday and Wednesday, kids take part in an hour of structured lessons followed by two hours of fun, reading-focused activities.
For all 20 sessions, mentors from the Youth Space Mentoring Program (YSMP) have been guiding learners based on their reading levels—supporting not just literacy, but also health awareness and overall development in line with the city’s education goals.
The HAPIsabela Mobile Library added even more excitement to the day, offering young readers not just books to enjoy but also lessons on environmental care, personal growth, and holistic learning—making each visit a meaningful experience for the children of Isabela City.
