The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) IX, in partnership with the City Government of Isabela, successfully held the culmination activity of the Tara, Basa! Tutoring Program on May 26, at Isabela East Central Elementary School.
Representing Regional Director Riduan Hadjimuddin, Innovations Division Chief for Innovation Hja. Jamila Arasid, RSW, delivered the opening message, celebrating the literacy gains and shared accomplishments of local learners, tutors, and Youth Development Workers (YDWs).
In support of the program’s implementation, the City Government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office, extended logistical and administrative assistance to DSWD IX, reinforcing the city’s commitment to education and youth development.
The ceremony featured accomplishment reports from TBTP Team Leader Ayesha Albani, as well as heartfelt testimonies from tutor Jenny Violet Dela Cruz, Youth Development Worker Expel Dela Cruz, and parent Ruhirmina Abdurahim, highlighting the impact of the program and the strength of community collaboration.
Certificates of recognition were awarded to outstanding participants and partner institutions, including DepEd SDO–Isabela City and Basilan State College, which served as implementing partner agencies providing academic supervision, tutoring support, and institutional monitoring. Representing Superintendent Dr. Ma. Laarni Villanueva was SGOD Chief Eduardo Gulang.
Meanwhile, Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, represented by Mohammad Ashraf Abubakar, RN, delivered an inspiring message emphasizing the importance of investing in literacy and empowering the youth. The program concluded with closing remarks from DSWD Tutoring Program Implementation Division Chief Jose Ramil Reyes.
Also present to witness and monitor the milestone event were Project Development Officer Adrian Avelino and Information Officer Jackielyn Simene from the DSWD Central Office, together with key members of the Regional Program Management Office.
As the program culminates, the City Government of Isabela remains steadfast in advancing literacy, education, and youth empowerment through sustained partnerships with national agencies, ensuring that meaningful opportunities continue to reach every child and learner in the community.
