Showcasing a dynamic fusion of culture and contemporary movement, STRAYDAWGS emerged as the Grand Champion of ISABAILE: The Modern Cultural Dance Showdown, May 1, at the Isabela City Grandstand. The event formed part of the ongoing celebration of the Sakayan Festival 2026, in line with the 25th Charter Anniversary of Isabela City.
Delivering a performance marked by precision, creativity, and powerful storytelling, STRAYDAWGS captivated both judges and spectators, securing the top prize of P50,000 along with a plaque of recognition.
Placing second was the Basilan State College Cultural Dance Troupe, receiving P40,000, while Hukbong Bughaw claimed third place with P30,000. All participating non-winning contingents were awarded P10,000 each as a consolation prize in recognition of their effort and participation.
The competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges composed of Randy Pacatang, founder and choreographer of Sexy Bordz and BRDZ; alongside Mohammad Bennajir Jul and Reynald Aguit, both members of Kahayag Dance Company Philippines Inc. of Dumaguete City.
ISABAILE highlights the City Government’s continued commitment to promoting arts, culture, and youth engagement, providing a platform for local talents to express identity and creativity through dance.
The event was organized by the Local Government Unit of Isabela City under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, through the City Tourism Office headed by City Tourism Officer Claudio Ramos II.
