SENATOR ROBIN PADILLA JOINS ISABELA CITY IN LIGHTING UP PASCUA ALEGRIA 2025

The Local Government Unit of Isabela City, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, officially launched this year’s Pascua Alegria na Ciudad de Isabela on December 5, themed “White Christmas.” The celebration opened with the much-awaited Alumbra: The HAPIsabela Christmas Lights Switch-On Ceremony, highlighted by the presence of Senator Robinhood Padilla, who served as the evening’s special guest. He was joined by his brother and fellow actor, Rommel Padilla.

Senator Padilla’s attendance drew excitement from the community, reflecting his continued support for local initiatives that promote unity, culture, and inclusive celebrations. In his message, he conveyed deep admiration for Mayor Turabin-Hataman’s leadership, recognizing how Isabela City has consistently championed community spirit, harmony, and good governance.

He emphasized that Alumbra is not merely a display of lights but a celebration of kindness, generosity, and shared humanity. He encouraged all Isabeleños to let the spirit of Christmas—hope, compassion, and joy—extend beyond the season and into daily life. Senator Padilla also acknowledged the significance of gatherings that bring people together across beliefs, cultures, and backgrounds, saying these moments reflect the true essence of peace and solidarity.

Mayor Turabin-Hataman, in her Message of Light, reiterated that the celebrations symbolize the city’s resilience and unwavering hope. She shared that despite national and local challenges, Isabela City continues to shine through its people—families, workers, the youth, public servants—whose everyday acts of kindness illuminate the community more brightly than any Christmas decoration.

Bishop Leo Dalmao of the Prelature of Isabela represented by Rev. Father Joselito Delos Reyes also delivered a Message of Joy, reminding everyone that Christmas is not defined by festive perfection but by a deeper joy rooted in God’s nearness, compassion, and the call to live harmoniously.

After the messages, Senator Padilla joined Mayor Turabin-Hataman in the countdown to the Christmas Lights Switch-On. Iconic spots across the city were lit simultaneously, officially marking the start of Isabela’s holiday celebration. The brilliant lights now illuminate the Isabela City Hall Lobby, Plaza Misericordia, Plaza Rizal, Sta. Isabel de Portugal Cathedral, Aguada Bridge of Lights, Isabela City Park, and the Fuego-Fuego Beachfront in Tabiawan.

The ceremony culminated in a dazzling fireworks display, with Senator Padilla warmly interacting with residents, taking photos, and sharing in the joyful spirit of the occasion—making this year’s Pascua Alegria launch one of the most memorable yet.

Under Mayor Hataman’s administration, the LGU stands with the Christian community every Yuletide season, celebrating unity through the city’s cherished lighting tradition. (Words by SJ Asakil/Photos by M. Santos, CIO)
