In line with the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Cityhood of Isabela through the Sakayan Festival, the City Government of Isabela, under the leadership of Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, conducted the Sakayan Festival 2026: Fun Shoot Fest, April 28, at the 6th Special Forces (Lionheart) Battalion, spearheaded by the City Tourism Office led by CTO Claudio Ramos II, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Basilan under the leadership of Governor Mujiv Hataman, further strengthening inter-agency collaboration in promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and unity.
Governor Hataman personally graced the event and, in his message, expressed his full support for initiatives that foster camaraderie and cooperation among uniformed personnel. He highlighted the importance of such activities in strengthening partnerships, enhancing skills, and promoting a culture of excellence and responsibility.
The program began with the assembly and registration of participants, followed by an opening ceremony that set a formal and meaningful tone for the activity. LTC Geoffrey Fabros delivered the welcome remarks, warmly acknowledging the participants and partners who contributed to the success of the event.
A detailed mechanics briefing was conducted by CPT Rheanne Carlo Moran and SGT Reben John Pranggos to ensure that all participants were properly guided on the rules and flow of the competition. Meanwhile, MAJ Rene Ibao discussed the camp rules and security protocols, emphasizing safety, discipline, and adherence to proper procedures throughout the event.
The competition officially commenced with the ceremonial shot led by Governor Hataman, signaling the start of the much-anticipated shooting activities. Participants engaged in various stages of the competition, including the demonstration of the course of fire, drawing of lots for the order of shooters, and the actual shooting proper.
The Fun Shoot Fest gathered participants from various Men in Uniform across Basilan, showcasing not only their marksmanship skills but also their discipline, focus, and sportsmanship in a spirit of friendly competition.
This initiative forms part of the Sakayan Festival 2026’s broader celebration anchored on the theme of reflecting on the city’s achievements over the past 25 years while looking forward to continued growth and unity. (Words by KJ Lim/Photos by KJ Evardo, IsaTV)
