The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation – Regional Office BARMM, together with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation – Local Health Insurance Office (LHIO) – Basilan, and in collaboration with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) – Basilan, conducted a 2025 Kapihan with Media and Information Officers’ Forum along with Basilan Communicators Network (BasComNet) 1st Semester General Assembly, June 11.
More than 80 attendees and information officers from different government agencies, non-government organizations, and security sectors gathered to witness the significant meeting which aims on strengthening a well informed Basileños.
PhilHealth-Basilan lead the Kapihan forum were Field Office Unit Supervisor J-Gil Tan elaborated the PhilHealth membership process, including the new benefits, case rates, and the member portal link for those constituents who wants to have an accessible and quick registration process.
This was followed by introducing the PhilHealth: ‘Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama o KonSulTa’ were Sherma Ayna Marie Abdalul, the Information Officer Designate, shared the KonSulTa registration process, the benefit packages for outpatients, and the KonSulTa package providers intended to all PhilHealth registered members.
Collection updates, premium contributions, online payments by using electronic premium remittance system, including clarification of unwarranted claims were also tackled by Collection Point Person Robert Rabina.
Participants then addressed their queries during open forum and shared the issues they had encountered before, during, and after registering as PhilHealth beneficiaries.
Furthermore, the afternoon session was formally opened by Nilda Delos Reyes, PIA-Basilan Infocenter manager, and welcomed all participants for this year’s 1st Semester General Assembly of BasComNet.
Leslie Rose Uyao, PIA-Basilan staff, highlighted the following objectives on why BasComNet has been implemented in Basilan and shared its important brief background. Uyao also emphasized the role of PIA and other agencies as collaborative partners towards informing and disseminating accurate information.
Moreover, ICM Delos Reyes emphasized the roles and significance of information officers and communicators from barangay level up to local government agencies and non-government organizations, including relevant ideas from media information literacy on how to spot information disorders and avoid misinformation, disinformation, and rampant spread of malinformaton.
Jaime Juanito Rivera, LEDIPO Head, 97.5 R.K F.M Radyo Komunidad Station Manager, and the BasComNet president featured the communication plan where information officers could write down the communication gap issues encountered and what are possible strategies, interventions, and solutions should be taken care of to achieve a factual and accurate information.
Also in attendance were Ahmed Hamzah T. Lucman, Public Relations Officer III and Public Affairs Unit Head from PhilHealth BARMM along with his staff, head of Isabela People’s Council Pastor Ronald Paulino, Local Amnesty Board-Basilan Paralegal Officer III Jeanette Rojas, representatives from Nagdilaab Foundation, Isabela Water District, and others.
