‘PARADE OF LIGHTS’ LEND COLORFUL WELCOME TO 2026 SAKAYAN FESTIVAL

The City Government of Isabela, through its City Tourism Office, staged the “Parade of Lights,” one of the highlight events of the Sakayan Festival 2026 held in celebration of the 25th Charter Anniversary of Isabela City.
Held on April 25, the event brought together government agencies, schools, civic organizations, and various sectors in a vibrant celebration of unity and cultural pride.
Representatives from the Local Government Unit, including key department heads and officials, joined the procession, demonstrating continued support for cultural initiatives and community engagement. Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and officials from the Provincial Government of Basilan, led by Governor Mujiv Hataman, were also present to show solidarity with the celebration.
Barangay officials, national government agencies, and uniformed personnel from the police and military sectors participated in the parade, highlighting the strong collaboration among institutions in promoting peace, order, and development in the city.
The event also featured participation from religious groups, civil society organizations, financial institutions, utilities, and academic institutions, underscoring the inclusive spirit of the festival. Drum and lyre performances from various schools added color and excitement, showcasing the talents of the youth and their role in preserving local culture and traditions.
The Sakayan Festival remains a significant platform for promoting the heritage, identity, and tourism potential of Isabela City. The Parade of Lights continues to reflect the unity and resilience of its people. (Words by SJ Asakil/Photos by M. Santos, CIO)
