Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman met with SK Federation President Naila Belleng, Local Youth Development Officer (LYDO) Levinia Jarejolne, and CIO Mendry-Ann Lim on July 14 for the presentation of the Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 activity calendar scheduled on August 1–12, 2026.
The meeting highlighted various youth-centered programs and activities aimed at promoting leadership, skills development, cultural appreciation, creativity, and community participation among young Isabeleños.
A cultural and creative arts initiative was also proposed to promote Basilan’s identity through creative platforms inspired by local legends, heroes, folklore, historical landmarks, and cultural narratives. Discussions likewise focused on strengthening youth programs through proper coordination, clear guidelines, and partnerships.
The City Government’s commitment to youth development was further emphasized through the HALIGI Scholarship Program (Holistic Academic Leadership & Pillars of Good Governance for Young Isabeleños), implemented by the LYDO and funded through the Gender and Development (GAD) Fund. The program provides educational assistance to 100 college student scholars, with each recipient receiving a P5,000 allowance to support their academic needs and leadership development.
