The Local Council on Women convened its 4th Quarter Meeting, December 15. The meeting officially opened with a message from the chair of the SP committees on Women, Children, and Family Affairs, and Gender and Development, Councilor Karel Annjaiza Sakkalahul-Hataman, who acknowledged the presence and continued commitment of the council members and partner stakeholders.
A key highlight of the meeting was a short but meaningful orientation on Women Circumcision, addressing common misconceptions and prevailing myths. This was conducted by Pershia Pula of Nisa Ul-Haqq Fi Bangsamoro, followed by a survey to assess the participants’ level of knowledge and understanding on the issue.
The agenda also covered the discussion of proposed activities for 2026 and the presentation of the approved GAD budget for the Local Council on Women, ensuring that future programs remain inclusive, responsive, and aligned with gender and development goals.
