The Local Council of Women (LCW) of Isabela City convened its 2nd Quarter Meeting on July 16, 2026, at JB Dans Hall, reaffirming its commitment to advancing programs and initiatives that promote women empowerment, food security, and inclusive community development.
The meeting was presided over by Sheila Pagarigan, a member of the Local Council of Women, on behalf of LCW President Miriam Suacito. During the meeting, members reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration and implementing responsive programs that address the needs of women and the broader community.
Ms. Sheila Pagarigan also facilitated the presentation of the council’s Tentative Strategic Plans, providing members with the opportunity to deliberate on the council’s priority directions and proposed initiatives for the succeeding quarters.
GAD Focal Person Mendry-Ann Lim led the presentation of the BAHAY KUBO: Barangay Vegetable Garden Contest for Equity and Food, an initiative in partnership with City Agriculture Office that encourages barangays to establish and sustain community vegetable gardens while advancing food security, environmental stewardship, gender equality, and active citizen participation. She emphasized the program’s role in empowering women as primary movers of community-based agricultural initiatives and in fostering resilient and self-sustaining barangays.
She also presented the council’s initial plans for the upcoming Farm Assistance Program, highlighting preparations to support local farmers through coordinated interventions and assistance measures in response to the anticipated effects of the El Niño phenomenon. The initiative seeks to strengthen the agricultural sector while ensuring that farming communities receive timely support amid climate-related challenges.
The meeting likewise included an assessment of the recently concluded 2026 National Women’s Month Celebration, allowing members to evaluate the implementation of activities, recognize accomplishments, and identify recommendations to further strengthen future Gender and Development (GAD) programs.
The quarterly meeting reflects the Local Council of Women’s continuing commitment to fostering stronger partnerships and implementing responsive programs that empower women, strengthen communities, and contribute to the sustainable and inclusive development of Isabela City.
