LGU-ISABELA CITY RECOMMITS TO CAMPAIGN VERSUS VAW

The City Government of Isabela through its Gender and Development Unit joined in the nationwide 18-day campaign to end violence against women (VAW), December 02.
In simple rights during the first Regular Monday Flag-Raising Ceremony of December, GAD-U led by City Information Officer and concurrent GAD Focal Mendry-Ann Lim led the orange-clad employees of Isabela City Hall through Philippine Commission on Women-produced audio-visual materials, including the reciting of the revised LGU-Isabela City Vision-Mission Statement which now includes the city’s ideal of being gender-fair and responsive. There was also the screening of the IsaTV-helmed GADVocaserye video.
A Question-and-Answer game was also held where employees who correctly answered questions related to VAW won packs of rice. The short program culminated with everyone in attendance reciting the “Pledge to End Violence Against Women.”
The 18-Day Campaign to End VAW is a national effort to raise awareness and promote advocacy efforts against gender-based violence. Through this campaign, we are called to take action, whether in our homes, workplaces, or communities, to protect the rights of women and ensure a safe and violence-free environment for all. Observed from November 25-December 12, this year’s theme is “VAW Bigyang Wakas, Ngayon na ang Oras!” (Photos by M. Santos, CIO)
