LGU-ISABELA CITY, EU-GLOBAL GATEWAY INITIAVE, UNDP FOR ‘CIRCULAR ECONOMY’ INCEPTION WORKSHOP

Under the administration and leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman, Isabela City marks a major milestone in its journey toward a circular and sustainable local economy with the conduct of the Isabela City Local Inception Workshop, implemented under the EU–PH Green Economy Partnership, Specific Objective 2: Green LGUs.
The workshop is spearheaded by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), with leadership and guidance from DENR Regional Director Atty. Abbas L. Lao, and supported by Engr. Voltaire Acosta, Deputy Project Manager of the EU–PH Green Economy Partnership. The program is co-implemented by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), reflecting strong national and international collaboration toward green local governance.
This two-day engagement brings together the local government, national agencies, and key stakeholders to advance circular economy strategies, focusing on resource efficiency, waste reduction, sustainable production, and green investments aligned with Isabela City’s development priorities.
Participation in this workshop is a critical step in the development of Isabela City’s Circular Economy Portfolio, supporting the city’s transition toward a resilient, inclusive, and environmentally responsible local economy.
Notably, Isabela City is among the pioneer LGUs nationwide selected for full LGU partnership under the program—joining only 20 LGUs across the Philippines—further affirming the city’s commitment to sustainable development and green innovation.
Together, Isabela City moves forward in shaping a future where progress is circular, inclusive, and sustainable.
