LGU-HANDS ‘GARDENATORS’ TO BADJAO FLOATING INTEGRATED SCHOOL

The City Government of Isabela, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, through the City Population Management and Development Office/City Nutrition Action Office headed by Jesielyn Puno, in partnership with Kids Who Farm, successfully turned over 10 Gardenators to the Badjao Floating Integrated School in Barangay Tampalan on September 25.
This initiative aims to empower the Bajau community by promoting sustainable gardening practices and strengthening food security. The introduction of low-cost, low-technology Gardenators will help Bajau families grow their own food, improve household nutrition, and foster greater ownership of local food production.
The activity was further enriched by the support of the City Agriculture’s Office, which provided and donated seedlings to jumpstart the school’s gardening program.
Present during the turnover were Punong Barangay Laila Alih of Tampalan, Principal Diana Segayo, Assistant Principal Mylene Saavedra, City Nutrition Program Coordinator Nujaima Abdurahman, Nutritionist-Dietitian Nasra Mohammad along with CPMDO/CNAO staff, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Barangay Health Workers, teachers, learners, and barangay officials.
