ISABELA CITY SPIKERS CLINCH CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN GRITTY 4-SET VICTORY

The atmosphere was thick with tension and excitement at the Basilan State College (BASC) Gymnasium, as the Isabela City Secondary Boys Volleyball Team officially secured the championship title, April 10, following a hard-fought battle against Zamboanga City.
The victory secured the team’s ticket to the Palarong Pambansa. Representing the city with pride, the student-athletes from Malamawi National High School showcased the kind of heart and discipline that defines a champion.
The final showdown was a test of endurance. In the first set, the two teams went point-for-point, extending the game into a thrilling deuce. Isabela City held their nerve to finish at 28-26. The momentum stayed with the home side in the second set, managing to outpace Zamboanga City for a 25-23 win.
Zamboanga City fought back in the third set, capitalizing on a few errors to take it 17-25. However, the Isabela City squad refused to let the game go to a decider. In the fourth set, the team rediscovered their rhythm, dominating the court with a final score of 25-16 to end the match.
The spotlight was on Moh. Atan Bangsa (Jersey #10), who was named Player of the Game. Bangsa’s performance in the final set was a major factor in breaking Zamboanga City’s defense and securing the championship for the team.
This championship run is a credit to the talent at Malamawi National High School and the guidance of the coaching staff.
