The Grandstand Alegria was filled with vibrant energy and cultural pride as the Department of Education (DepEd) – Isabela City Schools Division took center stage for DepEd Night, April 29.
Held as a highlight of the 25th Isabela City Charter Annivrsary and the 2026 Sakayan Festival, the event showcased the synergy between the City Government of Isabela, led by Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman, and the local education sector.
The program opened with a warm welcome from Dr. Lyna Basri, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent. In her message, she expressed her deep appreciation for everyone’s presence and participation. She said that the evening was a vital opportunity to strengthen the friendship within the division while creating wonderful memories together. She encouraged the DepEd family and Isabeleños to relax, enjoy the festivities, and keep the energy alive throughout the night.
Following the opening remarks, the crowd was treated to a high-octane Opening Salvo by the BNHS Drum and Lyre, led by conductor Ronald Solaimo, which officially set the festive mood for the presentations.
The keynote message of support was delivered by Dr. Ma. Laarni Villanueva, Schools Division Superintendent. She said that as the city celebrates its 25th Cityhood Anniversary, this milestone marks a significant “quarter of hope” for every Isabeleño.
Dr. Villanueva mentioned that the celebration serves as a tribute to the community’s heritage and the unwavering support of its people. She urged everyone to look back with gratitude at their past achievements while moving forward with courage, innovation, and a commitment to progress. She further emphasized that every learner, teacher, and family is integral to the story of Isabela City.
Closing her speech with a firm promise, she said that the Isabela City Schools Division will always have her 101 percent support in shaping a brighter future through unity and education.
The heart of the evening featured the Presentation Proper, where different districts showcased their artistic talents and cultural narratives. The performances were delivered in the following order: West District, Island District, East District, and North District.
The night also featured a special performance by the BNHS Grey Tiger Band, adding more musical flair to the anniversary celebration.
As the celebration drew to a close, Dr. Arnel Hajan, BNHS OIC Principal and concurrent EPS MAPEH/DSO, delivered the closing remarks. He said that the event did more than just highlight their collective achievements; it reflected a deep-seated commitment to continuous progress.
Dr. Hajan thanked the participants for a night of meaningful reflection. He said that as they move forward, they must be guided by a shared vision and strengthened collaboration. He reminded the audience that Isabela City belongs to every Isabeleño, and together, they will continue to write a story of progress that honors their history.
