The Isabela City Business Summit and Expo 2025 culminated in a vibrant evening of celebration, reflection, and renewed commitment to inclusive economic development during the Closing Plenary and PCCI Summit Awards Night, hosted by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) – Isabela de Basilan. Held in an atmosphere charged with optimism and purpose, the event brought together business leaders, government officials, civil society representatives, and local entrepreneurs to honor the collaborative efforts that have been instrumental in shaping Isabela City’s growing business ecosystem.
The program began with a welcome message from PCCI vice president Ibn Ahmed Djaliv Hataman, who spoke passionately about the importance of foundational economic principles such as competition. Drawing from his academic background, he emphasized that in its simplest form, competition drives innovation, improves service quality, and keeps businesses accountable—all of which contribute to a healthier, more dynamic local economy.
A significant development was the Memorandum of Agreement signing between Sulo Barakah Ventures represented by Mohammad Taha Basman II, LGU Isabela City represented by Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, BioPrime represented by Sr VP Pablito Tolentino and IMLAP SGA represented by president Sandra Abda, marking a new chapter in public-private collaboration geared toward economic transformation.
One of the night’s highlights was the performance of the Pasangan Cultural Dance Troupe, whose colorful and high-energy presentation paid homage to the rich cultural heritage of Isabela City. Their performance served as a powerful reminder of the role culture plays in shaping a strong, unified identity for the city—something that also strengthens its appeal as a growing economic hub in the region.
Following the cultural showcase, the spotlight turned to the Isabela City Business Awards 2025, which recognized a diverse group of outstanding entrepreneurs and enterprises for their exceptional contributions to the local economy. Among those honored were respected businesses such as Font Restaurant, Basilan Sales Marketing, Infante Hospital, Madeline’s Optical and Medical Clinic, Filipino Bakery, Ed’s Enterprise, Ever General Merchandising, Double D Enterprise, Lanote General Builders Hardware, and Rosie’s Pharmacy. Also recognized were distinguished individuals and community leaders who have made a significant impact in advancing economic resilience, innovation, and job creation in the city, including Salamiya Dimaporo, Sanaira Usngan, Maimona Ibrahim, and Dr. Phillip Tan.
The evening also marked a pivotal moment in institutional development with the induction of the Investment Promotion Officers Network (IPON), a regional coalition aimed at boosting investment-readiness and inter-agency collaboration. This was followed by the formal installation of the new PCCI Isabela de Basilan Officers and Board Members, a leadership body tasked with reviving and steering the local chamber toward a more impactful role in regional development.
In her inaugural speech, newly elected Chamber president Julie Ann Marie Lim delivered a heartfelt address that combined humility with ambition. She admitted her surprise at being entrusted with the role, noting that the chamber had been largely inactive since its establishment in 2012. Yet, she embraced the responsibility with conviction, believing that “unplanned moments often carry greater purpose.” Lim outlined her vision of transforming the chamber into a dynamic force for good—one that empowers MSMEs, encourages innovation, and promotes inclusive growth. She committed to leading with integrity, accountability, and inclusivity, emphasizing that progress can only be achieved through collaboration and shared purpose. She also introduced the full slate of newly appointed officers, each representing a key sector in the local economy—from food and agriculture to women-led MSMEs and indigenous businesses—demonstrating a strong, sector-wide approach to leadership and development.
In a heartfelt acceptance and response, Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman praised the efforts of the newly installed officers and underscored the city’s vision of inclusive, participatory governance. She reiterated the administration’s commitment to promoting investment, strengthening public-private partnerships, and creating an enabling environment where businesses of all sizes can thrive. Mayor Hataman recognized the importance of events like the summit in bridging the gap between local government and the business community, stressing that every initiative must ultimately benefit the people—especially families, workers, and small entrepreneurs.
