ISABELA CHO VACCINATES 1,371 CHILDREN DURING MR-SIA LAUNCH

The City Health Office of Isabela de Basilan under the headship of City Health Officer, Dr. Mohrein H. Ismael VI and through the National Immunization Program (NIP) kicked-off the Ligtas Tigdas Measles – Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-SIA) for children 6-59 months old yesterday, January 19, 2026 all over Isabela City.
An official launch was held at Barangay Menzi which were graced by Rural Health Physicians Dr. Rehab Hayre, Dr. Fatima Sharyn Angsa, pediatrician Dr. Rhufaida Aunal, monitoring team from DOH Zamboanga Peninsula CHD and Honorable City Councilor Ameen Camlian, Chairman of Committee on Health and Sanitation.
A total of 1,371 children (6-59 months old) were vaccinated with Measles – Rubella which accounts for 8.89% coverage. RHU North were able to inoculate a total of 387, 228 from RHU 1 -East, 600 form RHU 2 – West and 155 from RHU 3 – Malamawi. There are 14,043 remaining unvaccinated from the target population so we encouraged the parents and guardians to bring their eligible children at designated fixed posts around the city. A total of 1,215 were also given Vitamin A supplementation with 7.88 % accomplishment rate.
The MR-SIA will run from January 19, 2026 until February 13, 2026. Vaccination is the key to a safe and healthy future for our children.
