Isabela City officially opened the 22nd Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Athletic Association (ZPRAA) Meet on April 6, its first time to host the regional event in over two decades.
With the theme “Championing Unity and Peace Through Sports,” the city welcomed over 5,000 athletes, coaches, and officials from across Region IX in a vibrant opening ceremony showcasing its culture and identity.
Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman described the hosting as a milestone for Isabela City, reflecting its progress and commitment to youth development. Regional local government leaders and DepEd officials likewise underscored the role of sports in building discipline, unity, and national pride.
The week-long meet, running until April 11, is Zamboanga Peninsula’s largest sporting event and is a qualifying event for those aspiring to represent the region in the 2026 Palarong Pambansa. (With Photos by KJ Evardo, IsaTV and M. Santos, CIO)
