GOGO ESKWELA MAKES FIRST STOP AT BASILAN NHS

In connection with the 124th Civil Service Anniversary, the City Government of Isabela under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman held a GoGo (Good Governance) Isabela Eskwela Caravan, participated by high school students, held at BNHS Gymnasium, September 10.
Basilan National High School is the first public school that was visited by the GoGo Eskwela Caravan in partnership with the City Human Resource and Management Office, with the full participation of GoGo Caravan Team volunteers.
Executive Director Deddette Suacito and Paulo Rick Lataba, both from the Nagdilaab Foundation Incorporated (NFI) served as the volunteer speakers for the GoGo Eskwela training session. The discussion focused on the roles and responsibilities of the students or youth of Isabela City in achieving good governance within the city.
Jaecajoy Mandawe, Grade 12 student, expressed her gratitude for the GoGo training for raising awareness among her fellow schoolmates on topics regarding good governance. According to Mandawe, as a student of this generation, everyone must be careful in choosing leaders because the future of Isabela City and its people lies in the hands of those leaders.
Ameera Camlian, also a Grade 12 student added that their right to vote is also one of the best contributions that they could give in order to achieve good governance. She emphasized that having knowledge on how the government works will serve as an advantage and a guide for them in choosing leaders who will sustain the needs of its constituents.
Meanwhile, Jaylano Camcello expressed the learnings he attained and his realizations throughout the training session. According to him, he has learned the government funds are limited and are already allocated on the planned projects, programs, and activities in the city and so the LGU is still looking for other ways on supplementing funds just to implement the desired projects they want to build for the city.
Moreover, Al-Imran Alano and Sitti Aiza Dagam also shared that in order to achieve good governance in the city, the leader should be knowledgeable, strategical, and responsible who will lead his/her constituents for a brighter future ahead.
As the program came to a close, Radian Kambal quoted, “Noon, kinakatakutan ang Isabela City, ngayon, hinahangaan na siya at kaya nang makipagsabayan sa anumang mga larangan”, which he also added that Isabela City now is being recognized and featured in its tourism sector not just in local view, but in global aspects.
The GoGo Isabela Eskwela Caravan was made possible in collaboration with the CHRMO, BNHS personnel led by Principal Dr. Lyna Basri, Alternate Assistant School Principal for Academics in Senior High Dr. Wilfreda Pilar Eisma, and Grade 12 Curricular Adviser Alleli Faustino. Also present in the GoGo session were Jham-Jham Kalbi, Yashrine Mariana Jammang, Barbette Jane Baclay, and Qasim Tapsi as the GoGo secretariats including Elvic John Obdencia as the GoGo documenter.
Good Governance Isabela Caravan or GoGo Isabela is a component of the LGU-Isabela City’s Information Revolution program under the administration of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman. It is an overarching program composed of series of information dissemination activities, which empowers all Isabeleños to join, contribute, and be part of achieving a transparent, participatory, effective and efficient local government.
