DOST IX CONDUCTS ASSESSMENT FOR CALAMANSI PROCESSING PROJECT IN ISABELA CITY

The Department of Science and Technology Region IX (DOST IX) conducted a Technology Needs Assessment in Isabela City, March 11, to evaluate the operational requirements of a proposed small-scale calamansi juice processing project.
The activity was undertaken following the request of the City Government of Isabela through the City Persons with Disability Affairs Office for possible assistance under the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (DOST-SETUP) and other relevant programs of DOST, including support services from the Food Innovation Centers.
The proposed project, initiated by Mohammad Nasser Lim, aims to develop a value-added agricultural product through the establishment of a small-scale calamansi juice processing initiative utilizing science and technology-based interventions.
The assessment was conducted by DOST IX personnel, including PRA IV Merly Alivio, PTA IV Jon Catlo Tangon, and PTAid VI Jon Brett Madarang, who evaluated the current operational requirements of the project and identified appropriate technological interventions that may be extended to the project proponent and other stakeholders.
Through the Technology Needs Assessment, DOST IX evaluated the current operational requirements of the project and identified appropriate technological interventions that may be extended to the project proponent and other stakeholders.
The results of the assessment will serve as the basis for recommending suitable assistance under DOST-SETUP and other DOST programs aimed at enhancing production capacity, improving product quality, and supporting enterprise development. (Words by SJ Asakil, CIO/Photos by KJ Evardo, IsaTV)
