CREATIVITY SAILS IN SAKAYAN BOAT MAKING CONTEST

In celebration of its 25th Cityhood Anniversary, the City Government of Isabela, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, hosted the Sakayan Miniature Boat Making Contest on April 29 at the JW Strong Boulevard. The event was organized by the City Tourism Office, headed by City Tourism Officer Claudio Ramos II, as part of the vibrant Sakayan Festival 2026, with 20 participating groups from across Isabela City.
Participants showcased their creativity and craftsmanship by building miniature boats using materials provided by the organizers. The contest highlighted the rich maritime culture of Isabela City, paying tribute to the traditional sakayan boats that have long been a symbol of the region’s heritage.
The champion will receive P10,000, plus an additional P5,000 from Bunso Fastfood, along with a plaque of recognition. The second-place winner will receive P8,000, plus P3,000 from Bunso Fastfood, while the third-place winner will receive P5,000, plus P2,000 from Bunso Fastfood. All non-winning teams will receive a consolation prize of P3,000 and a certificate of appreciation.
