Deputy Minority Leader and Basilan Lone District Representative Mujiv Hataman served as guest of honor during the opening of the 30th Province-Wide Camp 2025 of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, held under the theme “Beyond Self-Defense: Empowering Women through Confidence and Resilience,” is slated from January 24-26 at the 4th Special Forces Battalion, Special Forces Regiment, PA, in Barangay Cabunbata.
Executive Officer of the 4th SFBn, LTC Jesus Rosete, delivered the welcome remarks on behalf of Battalion Commander LTCOL Adolf Ian Garceron. Following this, Basilan Division Sub-Camp Director for Junior Girls Amelia Jailani presented the impressive turnout of participants, including 439 girl campers and 110 adult leaders from the Isabela City, Basilan, and Lamitan City Schools Divisions.
In his message, Rep. Hataman shared heartfelt reflections on his own scouting experiences. He recounted how he developed essential skills, such as cooking, during his time as a Boy Scout. He also fondly remembered the wisdom imparted by his former teacher, as well as what inspired him to undertake meaningful projects, including the concreting of Basilan’s circumferential road—a project he considers a legacy of progress for the province.
In addition, Rep. Hataman emphasized the lifelong value of the lessons they would gain during the camp. He encouraged them to embrace the opportunities presented to them, as these skills and experiences would shape their journeys and prepare them to become empowered individuals and future leaders.
City Administrator Pedrito Eisma, representing Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, shared how his time as a Boy Scout honed his leadership skills and how he enjoyed the scouting experience. Meanwhile, Division Research and Evaluation EPS Hja. Delia Sandatan, representing Basilan Schools Division Superintendent Tim Undain-Sanchez, reminisced about her days as a Girl Scout and expressed joy at seeing the enthusiastic campers and leaders gathered for the occasion.
Program Coordinator Mardechona Flores introduced the camp staff, led by Camp Director Claire Evangelista from Baluno National High School. Evangelista officially declared the camp open, signaling the start of a series of activities aimed at empowering girls through confidence-building, resilience, and leadership development
