In preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, the Basilan Ulama Supreme Council, led by chair Dr. Aboulkhair Tarason, formally coordinated with the City Government of Isabela during a courtesy visit to City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman on February 12.
The visit, conducted alongside representatives from the international humanitarian group Hasene Organization, marks the beginning of the province-wide food security initiative. The partnership aims to ensure that Muslim families across Basilan have access to essential food supplies during their period of fasting and spiritual reflection.
The distribution teams are scheduled to conduct food packaging and delivery in various selected barangays. Initial priority areas identified for this year’s rollout include Panigayan and Sitio Balawatin in Makiri, among others. (Words by SJ Asakil/Photos by M. Santos, CIO)
