ANGAT BUHAY TURNS OVER TWO NEW CLASSROOMS TO MAKIRI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

A newly constructed two-classroom building was officially turned over to Makiri Elementary School, March 7, as part of the Angat Buhay initiative, bringing improved learning facilities to students in the area. Basilan District 1 Board Member Ahmed Djaliv AMIN Hataman, on behalf of Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman witnessed the turnover ceremony along with DepEd Official, Mr. Eduardo Gulang.
The turnover ceremony commenced with a welcome address from Chief SGOD Eduardo Gulang, followed by an official welcome from the school principal, Erlyn Ammad. The event marked a significant milestone in the continuous efforts to enhance education infrastructure in Isabela City.
The two-classroom building was made possible through the generous support of the Jesus V. Del Rosario Foundation, Inc., in collaboration with Angat Pinas, Inc. The donation was spearheaded by former Philippine vice president Atty. Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, chairperson of Angat Pinas, Inc., reinforcing her commitment to uplifting education in underserved communities.
Prominent representatives from the donor organizations were present at the ceremony, including Gina Bulanhagui, Executive Director of Jesus V. del Rosario Foundation, Inc., Program Manager Tina Roque, and Program Supervisor Jeric Menia. Also in attendance were Regional Manager of EMCOR Denver Lagata, alongside Wilbert Lauriaga from EMCOR. Representing Angat Buhay was Atty. Jose Christopher Belmonte, a trustee of the organization.
The newly turned-over classrooms are expected to provide a conducive learning environment for the students of Makiri Elementary School, furthering the goal of equitable access to quality education in Isabela City, Basilan.
The Angat Buhay program, the largest non-government initiative in the country, continues to partner with various organizations to support marginalized communities, particularly in the education sector. The event underscored the importance of collaboration between public and private entities in fostering development and improving the lives of Filipino students.
