200 BARANGAY RESPONDERS BENEFIT FROM AYALA FOUNDATION-LED DRRM TRAINING

With the aim of cultivating skilled and prepared responders, Ayala Foundation (AFI), led by AFI President Antonio Lambino II, partnered with the City Government of Isabela, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, and its City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, headed by CDRRM Chief Uso Dan Salasim, organized an upskilling seminar at the Isabela City Civic Center, June 20.

The Maging Handa training was attended by 200 participants including 150 community responders and frontliners deeply engaged in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM). Additionally, 50 individuals received specialized training in mental health and psychosocial support. This initiative marks a proactive step towards bolstering the capabilities of disaster responders and ensuring more effective response efforts in the future.

In her message, Mayor Turabin-Hataman welcomed and expressed gratitude to Ayala Foundation, Inc. for their significant support, not only in terms of resources but also in imparting essential skills to the responders. She emphasized the critical importance of preparedness, prevention and mitigation, underscoring that teaching these to barangay representatives ensures that they themselves become capable responders and can further educate others.

AFI adopted a thorough strategy to guarantee the seminar’s effectiveness through detailed planning and the supply of necessary resources. Expert speakers presented meticulously crafted modules focusing on disaster response strategies. Attendees were equipped with personalized shirts and emergency survival kits. AFI proficiently handled logistics including venue preparation, catering, and transportation, nurturing a conducive learning atmosphere for all participants.

Also present at the event were members of Ayala Foundation, Basilan District 1 Board Member Ahmed Ibn Djaliv Hataman, and LEDIPO Chief Jaime Juanito Rivera. (Words by E. Banding/Photos by M. Santos, CIO)
