ISABELA CITY OBSERVES 2025 WORLD IMMUNIZATION WEEK CALL TO STRENGTHEN ROUTINE ROUTINE VACCINATION COVERAGE

The City Government of Isabela, through its City Health Office, held the culmination activity, April 30, for World Immunization Week 2025, anchored on this year’s theme: “MAGPABAKUNA: Bakuna sa Lahat, Kayang-Kaya!” The event served as both a celebration and a strong call to action to increase immunization coverage and protect every child in the community.
The activity highlighted the city’s efforts to strengthen routine immunization, especially following last year’s report showing a 73% Fully Immunized Child (FIC) rate in Isabela City. With the goal of raising this figure, the event gathered key stakeholders, healthcare workers, and parents of children aged 0–12 months who were due for scheduled vaccinations. An on-site immunization schedule was provided, allowing participating infants to receive their needed vaccines during the event.
Special guests included Christy Ajijul, Regional Nurse Coordinator for the National Immunization Program (NIP), who graced the event along with local health leaders. Messages of support for the city’s immunization program were shared by DOH-ZPCHD Regional Director Dr. Joshua Brillantes who underscored the importance of timely and complete vaccination for every child as a critical investment in community health.
Also present were Rural Health Physician Dr. Rhufaida Aunal; NIP Nurse Coordinator for Isabela City Kristy Anne Montebon, and Health Education and Promotion Officer Bernardita Hontucan.
To celebrate and encourage participation, gifts were distributed to children who received their immunizations during the event—reinforcing the importance of protection through vaccines.
The culmination activity is part of the city’s continuing efforts to promote child health and wellness, in line with national and global goals to ensure that no child is left behind when it comes to life-saving vaccines. (Words by SJ Asakil, CIO/Photos by J. Segovia, IsaTV)
