In an effort to promote gender equality and inclusive development, the City Government of Isabela, through the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin- Hataman and efforts of City Cooperatives Development Office, City Information Office and Gender and Development Unit conducted a whole-day training on Gender Sensitivity and Gender Mainstreaming in Cooperatives on April 21.
The event gathered cooperative officers and members for a series of enlightening sessions aimed at strengthening their understanding of gender issues and integrating gender-responsive approaches in their respective organizations.
Two main sessions highlighted the day. The morning session focused on Gender Sensitivity, tackling basic concepts and addressing gender biases in the cooperative sector. The afternoon session covered Guidelines in Gender Mainstreaming in Cooperatives, equipping participants with practical tools and strategies to embed gender-responsive practices in their operations.
An open forum followed the sessions, allowing participants to engage in dialogue and share their insights.
This initiative forms part of Isabela City’s broader agenda to uphold gender equality and empower local cooperatives to be agents of inclusive economic development. (Words by R. Natividad-Sarael/Photos by Y. Acdalin and J. Kalbi, GAD Unit)
