ALS LEARNERS PARTICIPATE IN ADOLESCENT REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS AWARENESS

A total of 16 learners from the Alternative Learning System (ALS), 9 females and 7 males, participated in the “Healthy Young Ones” health advocacy conducted on April 11 by the Zuellig Family Foundation and The Challenge Initiative (TCI), in partnership with the City Government of Isabela under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman through its City Population Management and Development Office (CPMDO). The activity aimed to enhance the knowledge of out-of-school youth on adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights through a series of interactive and age-appropriate discussions.
CPMDO/CNAO Jesielyn Puno and TCI-Isabela City Lead Tony Tumalon served as speakers during the session. Topics discussed included puberty and body changes, male and female reproductive systems, menstruation, gender and health, reproduction and responsibilities, and the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
The event aimed to promote informed decision-making among adolescents and encouraged respectful, gender-sensitive understanding of health and well-being. By addressing both female and male learners, the initiative ensured inclusivity and relevance to all participants. (Words by E. Banding-Hadjala, IsaTV/Photos by M. Santos, CIO)
