10 WOMEN FARMER-GROUPS. RECEIVE LGU ASSISTANCE FOR FARM PRODUCTION IMPROVEMENT

In a continued effort to support local women farmers, the City Government of Isabela, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, has provided assistance to 10 Women Farmers Associations to improve their farm production on March 17.
This initiative, driven by the heart of Mayor Turabin-Hataman, through the Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, aims to empower women farmers by equipping them with the necessary resources and support to enhance agricultural productivity. The provision of assistance to Isabela’s farming communities is supported by a total funding of P500,000 from the GAD Fund, ensuring that women farmers receive substantial aid for farm implements to improve their livelihoods.
Meanwhile, Sheila Pagarigan, President of the Local Council of Women (LCW), underscored the importance of continuous training programs for women farmers to enhance their skills and knowledge. Additionally, CSO Focal Norhaiya Macusang, discussed the accreditation process, ensuring that these associations are recognized and eligible for further support and opportunities.
In her message, Mayor Turabin-Hataman acknowledged the hard work of those involved in making the initiative possible. She expressed her joy in seeing the formation of associations such as these Women Farmers groups, emphasizing the significance of collective efforts in achieving sustainable development in the agricultural sector.
Among the beneficiaries of this assistance to famers are: Sumagdang Farmers Association, Islander Farmers Association, Maligue Farmers Association, Masula Farmers Association, Magtinanem Farmers Association, Women Empowerment Association, Ayudahan Farmers Association, Samahang Makakalikasan Association, Fatima Hill Farmers Association and Seaweed Farmers Association.
The initiative aligns with the city government’s commitment to empowering women and strengthening the agricultural sector, ensuring that farmers receive the necessary support to thrive in their livelihood. (Words by R. Natividad-Sarael/Photos by M. Santos, CIO)
