400 SOLO PARENTS BENEFIT FROM GAD-FUNDED CASH ASSISTANCE

To recognize and uplift solo parents in Isabela City, the City Government of Isabela, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), distributed cash assistance on February 28. A total of 400 beneficiaries from 45 barangays received P2,500 each, amounting to P1 million, funded under the 5% Gender and Development (GAD) Fund.
City Social Welfare and Development Officer Nor-Aina Asmara delivered the opening remarks, warmly welcoming the attendees. This was followed by GoGo Pasada, an informative session that shed light on leadership roles, LGU-Isabela City’s budget allocation, and the importance of active citizenship, reinforcing the value of participation and responsibility in governance.
In her message, Mayor Turabin-Hataman underscored the significance of good governance, drawing inspiration from the resilience and determination of solo parents. She shared words of encouragement, acknowledging their unwavering dedication to their families. With heartfelt gratitude, she reassured them of the city’s steadfast support, ensuring that they remain empowered and valued members of the community.
To further equip the beneficiaries with knowledge, Atty. Ruhfa Iklaman of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) conducted an orientation on RA 11862 (Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act) and other laws safeguarding women’s rights. Meanwhile, Councilor Karel Annjaiza Sakkalahul, Chairperson of the Committee on Women, Children, and Family Affairs, discussed RA 11313 (Safe Spaces Act), emphasizing the city’s dedication to fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the solo parents, Solo Parent Federation President Marida Adjirul conveyed her appreciation for the continuous support and initiatives dedicated to their welfare.
The event was also graced by the presence of City Councilors Abner Rodriguez, Yusoph Abubakar, and Jeromy Casas, IPMR Mary May Julhari, Seaside Punong Barangay Fritzgerald Tan, several Barangay Information Officers, and Alexes Ututalum Infante.
