MARANG-MARANG WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION WINS 2025 ASEAN TOURISM STANDARD AWARD

Marang-Marang Women’s Association (MMWA) was honored with the prestigious ASEAN Tourism Standards Award – ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Award for 2025.
MMWA is the first ASEAN Community-Based Tourism Awardee in Region IX and the sole awardee for Mindanao. The awarding ceremony was held on January 20 in Johor, Malaysia.
The ASEAN Tourism Standards Award – ASEAN Community-Based Tourism (CBT) Award is a prestigious recognition given to community-based tourism initiatives within the ASEAN region that demonstrate excellence in sustainable tourism practices. Its key features are Focus on Sustainability, Community Involvement,
Cultural Preservation, Inclusivity and Empowerment, and Positive Visitor Experiences.
This award is part of the ASEAN Tourism Standards, which aim to raise the quality of tourism services across the region, promoting a more unified and competitive ASEAN tourism industry. Awardees often serve as models for other communities, showcasing best practices in sustainable and community-driven tourism. (Contributed Report)
