‘ECONIMIC PROGRESS FOR ALL’: LGU-ISABELA RAMPS UP MICROFINANCE LIVELIHOOD INITIATIVES WITH ‘USAHA CENTER’

The City Government of Isabela, under the administration of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) headed by PESO Manager Aradelria Belleng, in collaboration with USAID and The Asia Foundation, led the launch of the HAPISABIDA Usaha Center on June 5 at the City Hall Lobby.

The launch commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Traveler’s Lounge, where the center is housed.

In her opening message, DOLE ICFO Head Marlyn Anoos expressed her support for the initiative. The event featured a simulation of the HAPISABIDA USAHA Center Pathway program, the graduation of HAPISABIDA Program trainers, and a speech from graduate Jo Ida Grace Almazan.

In her message, Mayor Turabin-Hataman emphasized the need for a supportive institution to guide job seekers in Isabela, highlighting the competitive job market where additional skills are essential beyond graduation. She praised PESO for listing job opportunities but stressed the importance of an organization dedicated to helping individuals confidently find jobs or start businesses, filling a crucial gap in job market awareness and preparedness.

The launch also highlighted the introduction of the Waisabeleño Financial Planner. In her closing remarks, PESO Manager Belleng emphasized the importance of such initiatives for the community.

Attendees included Basilan District 1 Board Member Ahmed Ibn Djaliv Hataman, City Councilor Abner Rodriguez, DICT Provincial ITO Michael Jolo, and representatives from OWWA. Also present were City Administrator Pedrito Eisma, LEDIPO Chief Jaime Juanito Rivera, and staff from PESO, and LEDIPO. (Words by SJ Asakil/Photos by M. Santos, CIO)
