MALIGUE MOTHERS LEARN BUDGET-FRIENDLY NUTRITIOUS RECIPES WITH ‘COOK WITH JOY’

As part of the Nutrition Month 2026 celebration, the City Government of Isabela under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, through the City Population Management and Development Office led by CPMDO/CNAO Jesielyn Puno, held “Cook with Joy” for pregnant and lactating mothers of Barangay Maligue, July 22.

The activity featured a cooking demonstration of Mixed Vegetable Omelet, served as a vegetable burger patty to show that healthy meals can also be delicious, affordable, and appealing to children. Mothers learned practical ways of adding more vegetables to their family’s daily meals while encouraging children to enjoy eating nutritious food.

Meanwhile, CPMDO/CNAO Puno gave a lecture on Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning, highlighting the importance of informed decision-making, healthy birth spacing, and proper maternal and child care. She also shared practical NutriTips to help families adopt healthier eating habits and improve their overall well-being.

Participants also received Ready-to-Use Supplementary Food, iron with folic acid capsules for pregnant mothers, multivitamin syrup for children aged 1–5 years, and Lipid-Based Nutrient Supplement for children aged 6–23 months to support their growth and nutritional needs.

One of the most meaningful parts of the activity was the sharing of experiences from the mothers. Many said they were excited to try the recipe at home, noting that serving vegetables as a burger is a simple and creative way to encourage their children to eat more vegetables.

Through activities like Cook with Joy, the City Government continues to strengthen its commitment to promoting proper nutrition, responsible parenthood, and healthier families—one community at a time. (Photos by J. Segovia, IsaTV/Contributed Report)
