ISABELA CITY CELEBRATES 48TH NATIONAL DISABILITY RIGHTS WEEK, HONORS PWD EMPLOYEES

The City Government of Isabela, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the City Persons with Disability Affairs Office (CPDAO), marked the 48th National Disability Rights Week during the regular Monday flag-raising ceremony hosted by the CSWDO on July 13 at the City Hall Grounds.

Anchored on this year’s theme, “Rights First, Legislation Forward: Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development,” the celebration reaffirmed the city’s commitment to promoting the inclusion, empowerment, and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in building a more accessible and equitable community.

A highlight of the activity was the recognition of regular PWD employees of the City Government of Isabela through the awarding of certificates and tokens of appreciation led by CSWDO Head Nor Aina Asmara and City Administrator Pedrito Eisma, honoring their dedication, perseverance, and valuable contributions to public service.

The program also featured an intermission performance from Child Development Workers (CDWs), trivia activities, and other activities that raised awareness and strengthened advocacy for disability rights and inclusion.

During the celebration, CPDAO Head Gemma Paculio expressed her gratitude to the participants and emphasized the importance of sustaining collective efforts in advancing programs and initiatives that uphold the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities.

Through the CSWDO and CPDAO, the City Government of Isabela continues to implement inclusive programs that promote equal opportunities, active participation, and empowerment of persons with disabilities as valued partners in community development.
