DEPED, LGU-ISABELA CITY PARTNER FOR SCHOOL-BASED FEEDING PROGRAM

The DepEd Schools Division Office of Isabela City, in partnership with the City Government of Isabela through its City Population Management and Development Office, officially launched the 2026 School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) alongside the Nutrition Month Celebration on July 8 at Kumalarang Elementary School.

Carrying the theme, “Creating a Future Where No Child Goes Hungry,” the activity highlighted the shared commitment of the education sector, local government, and community partners to improve the nutritional status of learners and promote healthy eating habits among school children.

The program featured a nutrition advocacy session, messages of support from partner agencies, the official launch led by OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Ma. Laarni Villanueva and a message of support from City Nutritional Program Coordinator Nujaima Abdurahman, expressing the local government’s continued commitment to supporting nutrition initiatives that contribute to children’s health and academic success.

A ceremonial feeding activity marked the kickoff of the School-Based Feeding Program, with participating officials joining learners in pre-feeding and post-feeding activities, including proper handwashing and toothbrushing demonstrations to reinforce good nutrition and hygiene practices.

The event also underscored the importance of collaboration among schools, local government units, barangays, parents, and partner organizations in addressing child hunger and malnutrition while ensuring that every learner has access to nutritious meals and a supportive learning environment.

Through its continued partnership with the Schools Division of Isabela City, the City Government of Isabela reaffirms its commitment to advancing child nutrition and supporting programs that foster healthier, more productive, and resilient communities.
