A vibrant celebration of culture, music, and unity unfolded as the City Government of Isabela hosted a colorful evening program dubbed “HAPIsabela ZPRAA Night: An OPM Retro Night” on April 9 at the Isabela City Civic and Cultural Center,
Gracing the event was Senator Robinhood Padilla, who expressed his strong support for initiatives that promote youth development, cultural pride, and unity through sports and the arts. He commended the City Government of Isabela for successfully bringing together delegations from across the region, emphasizing the vital role of sports in fostering discipline and nation-building among the youth. Padilla also underscored the importance of cultural presentations in preserving identity and strengthening solidarity, noting that events like ZPRAA go beyond competition and serve as a meaningful platform for unity, understanding, and shared pride among Filipinos.
Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman expressed gratitude for the successful hosting of the event, describing it as smooth, peaceful, and meaningful. “At the beginning, many doubted—even ourselves—if we could host. But your presence erased those doubts,” she said. “The greatest opponent is self-doubt, and your trust is a gift that pushed us to be worthy.”
She also likened Isabela City to “an athlete once left behind,” noting that the support of delegates and leaders affirmed the city’s efforts to rise. “We hope that despite our limitations, you felt how important you are to us,” she added.
Governor Mujiv Hataman emphasized that the gathering reflected a successful hosting of the regional sports event. “Even if the games are not yet over, we can already say that this has been a successful sports event,” he said.
“We know there were lapses, and we ask for your understanding. We assure you that if given the opportunity again, we will welcome you with an even better hosting,” he added, while thanking all delegations and highlighting Basilan as “a peaceful, orderly province where people are united.”
Vice Mayor Ar-Jhemar Ajibon underscored the shared commitment to youth development, saying, “Your presence is a testament to our collective goal to strengthen programs for our youth.” He urged athletes to value the experience beyond competition, adding, “True success is not measured by medals alone, but by the integrity, determination, and heart you show in every competition.”
One of the highlights of the evening was the ZPRAA Fluvial Parade Awarding Ceremony, recognizing the creativity of participating delegations. Megayon of Zamboanga del Sur won the top prize of P100,000, followed by Garakoa of Zamboanga City with P70,000, and Lupa Sug of the Province of Sulu with P50,000. Other delegations received P20,000 consolation prizes.
The program featured a musical fanfare by the BNHS Choir and a lively Retro Extravaganza performance by the DepEd SDO-Isabela City. A segment titled “Naglalakbay” symbolized the city’s journey through time, culture, and progress.
Among the most anticipated performances was “Journey to Isabela,” a dance medley by the Pasangan Cultural Dance Troupe, showcasing the city’s rich heritage and diverse cultural identity.
