The heat of the sun matched the intensity inside the ring as the ZPRAA 2026 Boxing tournament (Secondary Level) took over at Fuego-Fuego Park in Barangay Tabiawan on April 8.
The day’s action delivered high-octane drama from the opening bell. ZANDIDAA set a blistering tone in the first game, securing a lightning-fast victory over Zamboanga Sibugay in just 15 seconds. Not to be outdone, Zamboanga Del Sur and Zamboanga City engaged in a back-and-forth rivalry throughout the day, with Zambo Sur claiming the 2nd and 12th games, while Zamboanga City fought back to take the 3rd, 6th, and 8th matches.
Zamboanga Sibugay also made their presence felt in the middle cards, bouncing back from their early loss to dominate both Zambo Sur and Pagadian City in back-to-back victories. The Sulu delegation also displayed immense heart, though they ultimately fell short against the relentless pressure of Zambo Sur in their two encounters.
As the sun set on Fuego-Fuego Park, the crowd witnessed a final showstopper in the 10th game, where ZANDIDAA once again asserted their dominance by overcoming Zamboanga City in a hard-hitting exchange.
With these results, the path to the gold medal becomes clearer, leaving fans eager for the next round of slugfests. (Words by S. Angging, CIO/Photos by K. Galano and J. Segovia, IsaTV)
