LGU-ISABELA CITY INTENSIFIES ASRH SERVICES WITH CALVARIO PEAK TEEN CENTER MONITORING

In line with the youth-centered thrust of the City Government of Isabela under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, and through the initiative of City Population Management and Development Office headed by CPMDO/CNAO Jesielyn Puno, the City Population and Nutrition Office conducted on February 19, an information dissemination and advocacy session on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH), alongside the monitoring of the School-Based Teen Center at Calvario Peak National High School.
The activity aimed to equip junior and senior high school learners with accurate, age-appropriate, and values-oriented information on adolescent sexual and reproductive health. It forms part of the city’s intensified strategy to address teenage pregnancy and promote informed, responsible decision-making among young people.
In collaboration with DepEd SDO Isabela City nurses, participating students underwent basic medical check-ups, including height and weight monitoring, to assess their overall health and nutritional status. These services reinforce the importance of preventive healthcare and early health assessment during adolescence — a critical stage of physical and psychosocial development.
To deepen awareness and reflection, a film viewing on teenage pregnancy was also conducted. The activity provided learners with a realistic portrayal of its social, emotional, educational, and economic consequences, fostering meaningful discussions on accountability, life goals, and the value of making informed life choices.
The monitoring of the School-Based Teen Center further ensured that adolescent-friendly services remain accessible, confidential, and responsive to the needs of students. The center serves as a safe space where learners can seek guidance, counseling, and health information without stigma.
This initiative underscores the City Government’s steadfast commitment to protecting and empowering the youth of Isabela through sustained, evidence-based, and adolescent-responsive programs. By integrating advocacy, preventive health services, and values formation, the city continues to build a generation that is informed, healthy, and future-ready. (Contributed Report)
