Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman led the turnover and acceptance of the newly installed 3-kilowatt (3kW) FM transmitter of 97.5 RK-FM Nutriskwela Radyo Komunidad from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) represented by DILG Isabela City Provincial Head Arnel Alvarez on February 6, marking a major upgrade in the city’s public information dissemination system and emergency communication capabilities.
The activity was attended by city officials, representatives from partner agencies, and members of the Community Radio Council, underscoring the collective commitment to strengthening community-based broadcasting in Isabela City.
The radio station is now fully compliant with all regulatory and technical requirements, effectively addressing the issues that led to its previous suspension. This compliance ensures uninterrupted operations and positions 97.5 RK-FM as a reliable, standards-compliant platform for public information and emergency communication.
Funded through the Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) 2024 amounting to ₱2 million, the project was financed using the incentive prize awarded to the City Government of Isabela for passing the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG). The investment significantly expands the station’s reach to 45 barangays, ensuring timely, accurate, and life-saving information reaches residents—especially those in remote and underserved areas.
A highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of the station’s new logo, symbolizing a renewed identity and strengthened mandate for public service broadcasting. The upgrade also included the installation of an 80-foot transmitter tower and the construction of essential facilities such as a new radio booth, recording and sound studio, radio technicians’ room, and sleeping quarters.
In her message, Mayor Turabin-Hataman emphasized the vital role of community radio in promoting public awareness and civic engagement. She stressed that the station’s primary purpose is to deliver reliable information, education, and a space for constructive dialogue, while fostering critical thinking among listeners. The Mayor expressed hope that 97.5 RK-FM will continue to serve as a key instrument for social development, disaster preparedness, and citizen empowerment across Isabela City.
