TZU CHI FOUNDATION BENCMARKS LGU-ISABELA CITY’S WASTE DIVERSION FACILITIES

Representatives of the Tzu Chi Foundation conducted a benchmarking visit to the Waste Diversion Facilities (WDF) of the City Government of Isabela, January 23, at Sitio Lantung, Barangay Baluno, as part of their learning exchange on effective solid waste management practices.
During the visit, city officials presented the programs and operations of the local government related to waste segregation, waste diversion, and community-based solid waste management. The benchmarking activity aimed to gather insights and best practices that may be adopted and replicated in other areas.
The Tzu Chi Foundation delegation was accompanied by CGSO Eugene B. Strong and CENRO Albino Orbecido, together with Solid Waste Management (SWM) Focal Person Saddam Lagoyo and Community Affairs Associate Anna Sahibil, who provided detailed explanations on the city’s existing systems, facilities, and environmental initiatives.
The benchmarking activity highlights the growing recognition of the City Government of Isabela’s efforts under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, in promoting responsible waste management and sustainable environmental practices, and underscores the importance of collaboration with organizations such as the Tzu Chi Foundation in advancing environmental protection and sustainability.
