NUTRISKWELA RADIO HOLDS BROADCASTING TRAINING FOR COMMUNITY ANCHORS

The City Government of Isabela, through the City Population and Management Development Office/City Nutrition Action Office, and City Information Office, successfully conducted Day 1 of its Nutriskwela Radio Broadcasting Workshop for Community Anchors, December 16.
The workshop aimed to enhance the theoretical skills of community anchors on scriptwriting, practical skills on radio broadcasting/hosting, and crafting their own programs’ action planning for an organized framework plan.
In his welcome message, City Administrator Pedrito Eisma emphasized the importance of good governance and encouraged anchors to be researchers. He also acknowledged the distinguished speakers for sharing their expertise.
Basilan District 1 Board Member Ahmed Ibn Djaliv Hataman highlighted the significance of human touch in radio broadcasting, transparency, and accountability. He stated, “There is always a human touch that can’t be replaced by AI, and that’s the importance of your workshop today.” He also added that, if we have good citizenry, they can make good decisions based on real facts.
The workshop also featured Nilda Delos Reyes, Philippine Information Agency Basilan Infocenter Manager, who discussed introduction to radio broadcasting, fundamentals of radio broadcasting, principles of effective radio hosting, and radio program formats and techniques. Other topics covered included ethics and professionalism on air, and basics of scriptwriting: tips and tricks.
Participants engaged in a practical workshop, creating their own informative radio programs in five groups, followed by simulation and critiquing sessions with experienced juries, including Jaime Juanito Rivera, LEDIPO Chief and RKFM Station Manager; Jason Arcan, Asst. Station Manager, Jan Imari Atilano, and Ailrryst Gay Solosa, Nutrition Officer II from the National Nutrition Council IX.
Arch. Marie Grace Tipa, Project Development Officer IV from the City Planning and Development Office, facilitated the workshop with the review, crafting, and finalization of Nutriskwela Programs’ Vision, Mission, and Goals, and the introduction of a 3-Year Action Plan template.
The Nutriskwela Radio Broadcasting Workshop was supported by the Gender and Development (GAD) Fund, emphasizing the importance of gender-sensitive approaches in community development. It also marked a significant step towards empowering community anchors with the skills and knowledge necessary to create impactful radio programs that promote good governance, transparency, and accountability.
