CITY COOPERATIVE OFFICE LEADS COASTAL CLEAN-UP AND MANGROVE PLANTING IN ISABELA CITY

The City Government of Isabela, through the City Cooperative Office, together with its partner cooperatives, successfully conducted a Coastal Clean-Up and Mangrove Planting Activity on October 11, 2025 in Barangay Lukbuton.
This environmental initiative resulted in the planting of 2,000 mangroves with the active participation of 58 cooperative members and stakeholders.
The event was made possible through the united efforts of Isabela City’s cooperative sector. Spearheading the activity were members of the United Workers Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multipurpose Cooperative (UWARBMPC) and the Latuan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (LARBENCO), joined by the Makiri Abaca Growers Agricultural Cooperative, whose presence highlighted the vital role of agriculture-based communities in environmental protection. They were further supported by the Villa Mauswagon Credit Cooperative and the BGH Employees Association Credit Cooperative, whose members actively took part in both planting and clean-up efforts—proving that environmental stewardship is a shared responsibility across all sectors.
The activity was also graced by the presence of CENRO Alvin Orbecido, Hon. Alexes I. Ututalum, Hon. Jashim I. Tiplani, Hon. Sarahaida I. Tiplani, and the Punong Barangay of Lukbuton.
This undertaking reaffirms the City’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental resilience, ensuring that the cooperative movement continues to play a vital role in building a greener, cleaner, and more prepared Isabela City.
Mangroves are more than trees—they serve as natural shields against storm surges, protect coastlines from erosion, filter pollutants from water, and provide habitats for marine life. By planting today, we protect the next generation of Isabeleños.
One tree today, a better world tomorrow.
