ISABELA CITY YOUTH EXPERIENCE COFFEE JOURNEY THROUGH ‘KAPESABELA: FROM FARM TO CUP’

As part of the 2025 Coffee Month Celebration, the City Government of Isabela, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, through the City Agriculture Office, conducted a three-day hands-on coffee production training dubbed KAPEsabela: From Farm to Cup – Elevating the Local Coffee Experience, held from October 7 to 9.
On Day 2, participants composed of Out-of-School Youth, 4-H Club Isabela City, Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP), and Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) embarked on an immersive coffee farm experience, where they learned the journey of coffee from planting to harvesting.
The activity started with coffee planting at IDCAF Farm School, followed by a visit to Brown Estates and Farm in Panunsulan, owned by Isabela City Coffee Growers Association president Lee Roy Brown, where they learned about the farm’s history and sustainable farming systems. The day concluded at Calvario Farm, owned and managed by Marcos Singson, where participants engaged in coffee berry picking and learned the importance of harvesting only red cherries to ensure the best coffee quality .
Through KAPEsabela, the Local Government Unit continues to empower the youth and nurture their appreciation for local coffee farming — transforming knowledge into passion and experience into opportunity. (Words by R. Albani/Photos by A. Puti, IsaTV)
