Barangay officials from across Isabela City attended the Barangay Legal Basics Seminar and Consultation organized by the Office of Vice Mayor Ar-Jhemar Ajibon under the Larga Isabela Program held on September 15 at SP Session Hall. The activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of barangay leaders in promoting justice, good governance, and conflict resolution at the grassroots level.
The seminar was facilitated by Atty. Moh Asraf Tungupon Baird, who provided a comprehensive orientation on the Katarungang Pambarangay Law and key provisions of the Local Government Code of 1991 (RA 7160). Topics discussed included the role of the Lupong Tagapamayapa, processes of mediation and conciliation, exemptions to barangay conciliation, and the issuance of Certificates to File Action.
Interactive discussions and case-based exercises allowed barangay leaders to better understand their duties and apply the law to real-life scenarios. Meanwhile, the consultation segment provided an avenue for participants to raise specific legal concerns and seek expert guidance on issues directly affecting their communities.
