The City Government of Isabela, through the City Agriculture Office in partnership with the Gender and Development Unit, spearheaded a Financial Literacy Training with the theme “Empowering Farmers Towards Smart Money Management” on September 10.
The activity was designed to strengthen farmers’ capacity in handling their income, promoting smart money management, and fostering sustainable livelihoods. City Agriculturist Maria Gina Alberto formally welcomed the participants, emphasizing that financial literacy is just as important as farming techniques to ensure long-term growth and stability in the agricultural sector.
The session featured the WAIsabeleño Financial Literacy lecture delivered by Reycel Villas-Helen, PESO–Labor Employment Officer I, who shared practical tips on budgeting, savings, and responsible spending. The activity also included an open forum and trivia portion, where participants actively engaged in discussions. As part of the fun and learning, a water sprinkler was awarded as a prize to the farmers who correctly answered a question during the trivia.
Among the participants were members of the Maligue Farmers Women Association, Masula Farmers Women Association, Mag-uuma sa Sumagdang SLPA, Kainginero de Lumbang SLPA, Kapayawan Farmers Association, Isabela City KADIWA Association, Ayudahan Rice Farmers Association, Baluno Farmers Association, and Busay Integrated Farmers Association.
